Origanum Vulgare

Fresh oregano is a great antibacterial agent. It has phytonutrients, which fight infections. It’s loaded with antioxidants that help prevent cell damage, and it’s an excellent source of fiber, vitamin K, manganese, iron, vitamin E, tryptophan and calcium.

Oregano is an aromatic, woody-based perennial, which grows to 20-90cm in height. Its leaves are ovate with the wider end at the base 10-40mm long and 5-25mm wide, and borne opposite each other on the stem. The young stems are typically square and hairy and become woody with age. The flowers are small and borne in clusters; they range in colour from white to pink or pale purple.
